Digging Deeper: Accepted Offers vs. Asking Price

The DMAR Market Trends Committee examined the percentage of closed transactions that accepted a contract above, below or at the seller’s asking price.

• 37.7 percent of sellers accepted an offer above their asking price. Last July, 42.6 percent of sellers accepted an offer above their asking price and 38.6 percent of sellers in June of this year.
• 36.0 percent of sellers accepted an offer below their asking price. Last July, 31.7 percent of sellers accepted an offer below their asking price and 36.1 percent of sellers in June of this year.
• 26.3 percent of sellers accepted an offer at their asking price. Last July, 25.7 percent of sellers accepted an offer at their asking price and 25.3 percent of sellers in June of this year.
• For additional comparison, one of our hottest months on record, May 2021, 72.2 of sellers received above asking price, 14.7 at asking price, and 13.1 percent below asking price.
