Colorado is Still Growing

The Denver Post ran a great story last week on population growth for our state and our 7-county metro area which includes Boulder County and excludes Elbert County. This is data based on changes from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022 and includes net migration and net births over deaths.
· Our state added 28,629 new residents or 0.5%.
· Our seven-county metro area added 7,682 new residents or 0.24% to a total of nearly 3.3 million people.
· Douglas and Weld counties are seeing the highest and fastest growth rates.
· While Denver, Arapahoe and Jefferson counties are seeing small declines.
· According to State Demographer Elizabeth Garner here is who is leaving CO—older adults and residents with young children.
· Garner is still predicting faster population growth in the next few years as we keep adding new jobs.
