The Town Council of Castle Rock is considering adding a ballot initiative that would increase the taxes on new builds by $7 per square foot for single-family and multi-family homes. On a 2,000 square foot home this would be a tax bill of $14,000 that will be added to the home’s price, thus making housing more unaffordable in Castle Rock. Whoops! The Town Council believes this will add $13.9 million annually to their budget to help fund an expansion of emergency services.
